OUR ADJUTANT COMMENTS ON OUR MEMBERSHIP
Legion membership has never been more important. With all of the issues adversely affecting veterans and problems with the Veterans Administration it is paramount that we make our influfelt at the highest levels. At the local level our dues help support our efforts in the community and in operating Post 126. If you have any questions concerning membership dues contact Mike Ellis at 757-373-6426 or by email at mtrbtr@hotmail.com. As mentioned before, National is raising dues by $5.00, which means we will have to increase our dues $5.00 {from $30.00 to $35.00}. However, if your 2016 dues are paid now, prior to Jan 1, you will not have to pay the $5.00 increase. Your 2016 dues can be paid following the June State Convention. The Post will continue to only recieve $7.50 from each membership. Last year our membership reached 124, our 2015 goal is 131 members. If you haven't renewed, please do so...we are running just above 60 percent renewals. Our Goal: 100 percent Post.
Eligibility Information
If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces during any of the war eras listed below, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving -- you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!

DECEMBER 20, 1989 TO JANUARY 31, 1990(OPERATION JUST CAUSE - PANAMA)
AUGUST 24, 1982 TO JULY 31, 1984(LEBANON/GRENADA)
FEBRUARY 28, 1961 TO MAY 7, 1975(VIETNAM)
JUNE 25, 1950 TO JANUARY 31, 1955(KOREA)
DECEMBER 7, 1941 TO DECEMBER 31, 1946(WORLD WAR II)
APRIL 6, 1917 TO NOVEMBER 11, 1918(WORLD WAR I)
*Because eligibility dates remain open, all members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.
U.S. Merchant Marine eligible only from December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (WWII).
