Independence Day memorializes the time when we successfully severed ties with the oppressive government of the British. When the new nation was formed it became necessary to have something as a guideline. At the time the scriptures became outstanding evidence that a culture could develop and be free. Over the years we have so amended the original law that we are again, in my opinion, under the rule of an oppressive government. We are over regulated and less knowledgeable. History is a reliable source for future events. I firmly believe that God blessed America because the law of God was a guiding principle of the constitution. I also believe that we can be so far away from God's law that He will let the nation fall into an evil captivity. Our pledge of allegiance says, “ one nation under God “, but that umbrella is becoming smaller every year. As veterans we have knowledge and life experience to share with the generation coming behind us.
